Thank You For Everything, My Friend

Thanks For Everything, My Friend | by Helen Gullett http://helengullett.com/?p=5145 #handmadecards #closetomyheart #ctmh #casualfridaysstamps

Thank You Card is one of the most cards we always need. Usually, I made A2 (4.25″ x 5.5″) cards or square cards, but this time I went with 8.5″ x 3.5″ that fits in no.10 envelope. I used 2 embossing technique on this card: heat and dry.

First, I embossed 8.5″ x 3″ White Daisy cardstock using Chevron Embossing Folder from CTMH and WRMK Evolution Advanced. Then I used my Xyron Create Sticker Max to add adhesive at the back of the embossed cardstock. Then on the other piece of White Daisy 8.5″ x 1.5″, I stamped the flower border from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Wallflower Set, using Cotton Candy Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad. Then using Xyron 1.5″ sticker maker I added adhesive on the flower stripe and added it on the card.

Next is the tag, I cut out of watercolor paper to make the tag, then added some colors using CTMH Watercolor Pencils, basic colors and then I wet it with brush and water to create the gradient watercolor effect. Using my Craft Heater I heated it so it dried well before I stamped the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set, Wallflower Set with VersaMark Ink Pad and added some AC Zing! Black Embossing Powder, opaque finish. I heated it with my Craft Heater and LOVE the bold color on the watercolor tag! Then I stamped one of big individual flower from Wallflower Set with Honey Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad, and cut it with scissors. I added on the tag with Liquid Glass and one of the Sparkles Clear Assortment.

I have this yellow and white baker’s twine I got from Pick Your Plum a while ago in my stash and this color just perfect match with the tag. I wrapped it around the card and then before I tied up the bow, I added the tag. I secured it with 3D foam tapes. Then I added the button and tied up the bow. To secure the bow, I used some very tiny drops of Liquid Glass glue under the twine.

I am inspired by CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, CFC134: Tic Tac Toe. I pick the diagonal, chevron, white, twine. So sad to know that this will be their last challenge. But the good news is that Michelle said that the challenge will be back freshly in 2015.

Birthday Cupcake Tag Card

2014-07-05-bday-cupcake-tag-ww-1

A couple weeks ago I got 2 of Winnie & Walter stamp sets. I love their Big and Bold sets, just simple yet gorgeous sentiments. On the weekend, I had a chance to play with one of them – The Big, The Bold and The Happy set.

My husband’s cousin invited us to their second daughter’s first birthday on Saturday and I made a quick card for this little baby girl.

2014-07-05-bday-cupcake-tag-ww

I made the tag with watercolor pencils and clear sparkle embossing, then I punch the bottom with my Scallop Border Punch. An then I stamped the happy birthday sentiment using Black Mini Pigment Pad. I used my Craft Heater to dry it quickly because I was in hurry. Do you see that cute big cupcake dimensional sticker? I got that at a scrapbook outlet store in Tennessee (good thing we do not live in that city! LOL!).

The chevron paper I used for the background is from Amy Tangerin – Sketchbook 6×6 paper pad. I added the background on a White Daisy card with 3D foam tape after I wrapped it with the baker’s twine, but not yet tie it up so I can move around to tie the bow later. Then I added the tag with 3D foam tape and then the cupcake dimensional sticker. Then I moved the twine around gently to positioned the bow on the side of the cupcake. Finished 🙂

We had so much fun at the party, basically we spent 6 hours there! Got to see my husband’s side of the family and the girls had a blast swimming with their cousins. At the end of the party everyone was super tired and fell asleep on the way back home.

To summarize, we had a full of fun July 4th weekend! I hope you had a good one too! Thank you for stopping by today!

1 Design, 2 Anniversary Cards

I know some friends who celebrate their anniversaries in this month, at least 4 in 2 weeks! Apparently June is a favorite month people to get married… including us! LOL!

Celebrating their anniversaries, I made some cards for them… today I would love to share 2 of the cards I made with one design from The Cutting Edge Challenge, a new challenge blog, the challenge is to create new cards using any die cutting machine. The first challenge is to create using any of these inspirations:

Here’s are my cards inspired by bottom left card:

The first card, I used the die cut flower petals and leaves on embossed background card. The die cut flowers and leaves are gifts from my card swap friend a few months ago. And the background card I embossed using CTMH Damask Embossing Folder with WRMK Evolution Advanced machine. I added some gems on the flowers and added them on the card using 3D foam tape.

The second card has the same embossed background card like the first one. I used Teal Shimmer Trim for the strips. The roses I cut with my Silhouette Cameo. To put them together, I used craft glue pen. I added some glitter on it. A bit more blings won’t hurt, right? I added the flower on the card with 3D foam tape.

The sentiment I used is from The Happy Couple stamp set (D1539) that I stamped it using Black Exclusive Inks stamp pad.

And they will be on their way tomorrow morning! I hope they’ll like them, and you too! 🙂 THANKS for visiting today!

Baby Owl Card

Joyful Stars - June 2014 Blog Hop | http://helengullett.com/?p=4889

Welcome to Joyful Stars June 2014 Blog Hop! New month, new blog hop from Joyful Stars CTMH Consultant team, new inspirations! I am excited to join this creative team every month to show case Close To My Heart products. You should be arriving from Joyce’s blog where this blog stars. If you happen to be here first, please visit her blog to see what she has created to share with this month blog hop.

And for this hop, I would love to share a baby card I made for our friends who just had a baby girl… She is one cute baby girl!!!

I made this card for her using Lollydoodle paper pack:

Baby Owl Card by Helen Gullett | http://helengullett.com/?p=4889 #closetomyheart #handmadecard #ctmh #watercolor

I used 2 sets of stamp on this card: B Is For Baby (D1561) and WOTG Lollydoodle Cardmaking Kit stamp (G1080). I stamped the sentiment, owl, and the branch differently. After I inked them, I sprayed the stamps with water using a spray pen. I sprayed just enough to wet the inked stamp and stamped the image on a piece of watercolor paper. And the water mixed with the dye ink will give the watercolor effect on the paper. LOVE IT! This a way to create watercolor image when you don’t have watercolor paint.

For the owl and the branch, I used Pear Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad (Z2197) and Chocolate Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad (Z2111). After they dried, I cut the owl and the branch and added on the card using 3D Foam Tape (z1151).

This owl stamp is super cute!! I love it so much! I think it’s cuter with some blings…. who doesn’t like blings? Especially for a cute little baby girl, right? 🙂 So I added some Sparkles Clear Assortment (Z1751) and some sequins that come from the Lollydoodle Cardmaking Kit (G1080).

For the tag, I stamped it with Cotton Candy Exclusive Ink Stamp Pad (Z2193). This tag compatible with Cricut Art Philosophy Collection (Z1686). I added the tag on the paper with 3D Foam Tape (z1151) to give some dimension.

The white banner I embossed a piece White Daisy cardstock using Chevron embossing folder (Z1925) with WRMK Evolution Advanced embossing machine. I added the banners on the card using Tombow Adhesive (1514).

For the inside of the card, I picked a quote from B Is For Baby (D1561) and stamped it with Cotton Candy Exclusive Ink Stamp Pad (Z2193). The rattle is from the same set and I colored it using Exclusive Inks Markers: Cotton Candy, Lagoon, Pear, and Sunset (lighter color).

And I decided to stamp the envelope also 🙂 I picked this beautiful vine from Love This stamp set (B1432). I stamped it using Pear Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad (Z2197) at the bottom front envelope and the flap of the envelope.

Stretching Your Embossing Folder and Stamp: DIY Paper Flower

We had a wonderful long Memorial Day. My husband cook out tasty food for 3 days! He is the best cook ever 😀 We also went driving on our Jeep at State Park close to us and love the wonderful days we had.  Just love warmer days!!

I have been playing a lot with my new embossing machine. Last weekend, I gathered all the courage I had to stretch the use of embossing folders with stamping. So… here’s what I did: stamped and embossed 3D paper flower. Check out these 2 embossed paper flowers I used them on 2 shaker cards I made for my friends:

DIY Shaker Card & Paper Embossed Flowers by Helen Gullett | http://helengullett.com/?p=4789 #diy #handmadecards #closetomyheart #ctmh #wermemorykeepers

I used this simple shaker card tutorial to make this cards. The sentiments I used are from The Happy Couple stamp set and Joyful Birthday stamp set. I stamped them with Black Pigment Ink Pad. First card, I stamped the anniversary sentiment on a piece of velum, added some glitter embossing powder, and heated it with my craft heater. The second card, I stamped the birthday sentiment on the base card, centered the position that would show in the frame. I got the metallic multicolor sequins and beads at Walmart only 🙂

I love those flowers on the cards, and I thought they would make my scrapbook layouts pretty, too… so I made more of them with different colors and pattern. And I took some pictures how to make them:

DIY Shaker Card & Paper Embossed Flowers by Helen Gullett | http://helengullett.com/?p=4789 #diy #handmadecards #closetomyheart #ctmh #wermemorykeepers

  1. First stamp the petals from Hello Bloom stamp set on a piece of White Daisy Cardstock. I used Sorbet, Juniper and Pear Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads.
  2. Run it through embossing machine. For these flowers, I used Chevron Embossing Folder and WRMK Evolution Advance machine.
  3. Then cut them and curl each petal gently using Quilling tool.
  4. Use Liquid Glass to put them together. You only need a small dot in the middle of each petal.
  5. Made a little bow with Baker’s Twine Neutral Metallic, Cashmere. And add it in the middle of the flower using Liquid Glass.
  6. Then add button (or gems) to finis the flower.

I hope you enjoy today’s cards and tutorial! Don’t forget you still have 5 more days to get the sweet deal of Scrapbooking Month and my 1st Anniversary Party with Close To My Heart.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fun crafting day!
