Coloring With Hero Arts Winged Friends Butterfly Digital Kit

Hello again… This is my second post today! Please click here to read the first post.

Today, I am sharing a mixed media card for a2z Scrapbooking August Challenge. The theme this month is Color It In. This is a fun theme, don’t you think?

I for the card based I used the heavy weight cardstock (110 lbs). Directly on the card base, I added some of Dina Wakley – White Gesso with one of the Hero Arts Floral Filigree Stencil Pair using palette knife.

I set it aside to dry while working on the digital image. You also can dry it with craft heat gun but have to be very careful. You do not want the gesso get to hot and bubbly.

First, I opened the Winged Friends Butterfly digital kit with my Silhouette Studio software and resized them. If you do not have any digital editing software, this file can be opened using pdf editor or Windows.

After it was printed, I started to color them using my Spectrum Noir pencils. I colored several of them with different shades of colors. On this card, I used the cool color combo 🙂

I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts – Notes of Thanks stamp set with matching color ink and added some Black Distress ink all around the sentiment banner.

Make sure the background is dry well before you add your embellishments. I used my Craft Heater to make sure it dried well.

So, I added the sentiment banner on the card with ScrapbookAdhesive runner and the butterfly I used 3D foam tape. I finished the card with some Lavender pearls from Hero Art.

  1. Thanks for sharing all of your lovely artwork with us at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy this week, Helen! It was SO hard to pick a favorite – but I love butterflies, so I’ve chosen to spotlight this beautiful card at this week’s party – congrats! 🙂
