Spring & Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Day 3 – Cup of Columbine

Power Poppy

Hello everyone… Welcome to the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!!! Today is the day 3 and it is a 1-week long link up party where you can participate and find inspirations from other coffee/tea/cocoa loving cardmakers and papercrafters. And… LOTS of prizes to win from amazing Super Sponsors! Let’s grab your favorite drinks and let’s get hopping!

For today, I have a watercolored card to share with you that I created using the beautiful Cup of Columbine digital stamp from Power Poppy, one of the Super Sponsors. This past week, they released new stamp sets, and one of them is the new Cheerful Columbine stamp set, which is the clear stamp form of this digital stamp with some sentiments, too.

The Sentiment is from the Orchid Cascade digital stamp set that I printed and die cut it with Mini Label Dies Set from Our Daily Bread Design, who is also one of the Super Sponsor.

After I resizied the image, I printed the Cup of Columbine (without the bird) on a heavyweight white cardstock 110 lbs with my inkjet printer in black and white color. Then I dried the ink with craft heater before I colored it.

I found couple pictures of this flower on Pinterest  to use as my guide to color them. I used Arteza Real Brush Pens and Spectrum Noir Sparkle Clear Overlay Brush Pen to color the whole image, including the grey background. I wish this image can capture more of the sparkle and shine of this image like in real life.

I dried the finished panel with craft heater and I trimmed it to fit in the middle of the card using paper trimmer.

I found this Colorbok Designer Paper colorful stripes patterned paper in my stash, and I added it on an A2 white card using dries-clear adhesive glue. Then I trimmed a strip of light green cardstock and added it on the card. Then, I added the watercolored panel and the sentiment label on the card with 3D foam and dries-clear adhesive glue for extra dimension to this card.

I finished this card with some white self-adhesive pearl gems on it.

  2. Beautifully done! I love the background… it’s a shame photos don’t pick up on the shine and shimmer, but I’m sure it’s stunning in person!
