For My Redeemer Contest, PLEASE READ all through the end to find THE KEY WORD from my post.
I created a mixed media wood sign using Color By Faith Collection – My Redeemer. I got a Small Rectangle Plaid Wood blank plaque at store. Then I covered it with scrap patterned papers using gel medium, sort of creating collage of papers on it. Once the gel medium dried, I added some white gesso on it.
I set it aside to dry white I was working on the cross. I stamped the cross with the Memento Lux ink on a white cardstock then added some brown gelato with my finger. Then I stamped cross again on a monoprint scrap paper that I have in my stash and fussy cut out the heart. I added the heart in the middle on the cross with 3D foam tape for extra dimension.
Next is adding colors on the background. My wood plaque was not quite dry yet so I used my craft heater to speed up the drying process.
Using blue green and brown gelatos, I added the colors on in. Gelatos blend smoothly on a primed surface. I used my finger and damp baby wipes to blend the colors. I added more pigment on around for darker shading.
Once I was happy with the background, I heat set it again with my craft heater. I added some gel medium on top of the background to seal the pigment, then dried it again with craft heater.
And next step I stamped the sentiments on it with the Memento Lux ink pad. The surface will be a bit slippery for stamping, so once you add your inked stamp on the surface, do no wiggle it too much, just firmly press down for couple seconds to make sure the ink transfer well on the primed background.
Here are the close ups of the stamping on it:
You can let the ink air dry, or you can use craft heater to dry it. I just let it sit on the frame stand and let it air dry. So that’s my mixed media wood sign 🙂 I hope you all be inspired and create your own Easter wood sign!
