CUTplorations November Challenge | Thankful Barley Card

Hello everyone… I always remind myself and my daughters that there is always one thing we can thank God for every single day.

Today, here’s the inspiration image for the November CUTplorations Challenge. I created a card inspired by the color combo, give thanks phrase some of the wheat grass.

On my card today, I use the Thankful Word DieCrazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies, and Barley ARTplorations Stencil.

I created the background with watercolor paper, Distress Oxide Ink Pads, and water using the smooshing technique. After I got the layers of colors, I added some splatter of water, let it sit for couple seconds, and then I dabbed it off with paper towel. I dried the panel with craft heater and I cut it with the largest size of the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

I added the Barley ARTplorations Stencil on top of the background panel and then using sponge dauber I added the Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink on it. After that, I added some more splatters on it with Finetec Silver Watercolor Paint and then I dried the background panel with craft heater. I added the finished panel on the card base with dries-clear adhesive.

I die cut a white cardstock using the Thankful Word Die and then I added some of the Finetec Gold Watercolor Paint splatters on it. I added the sentiment on the card with 3D foam tape.

I embellished the card by wrapping it with some of the natural burlap twine ribbon.

That’s my Give Thanks theme card for this November CUTplorations Challenge. Oh and… when you use any STAMPlorations products on your projects, you can also link it up at STAMPlorations Neverending Anything Goes Challenge:

Mixed Media Blessed Wreath Tag

Hello everyone! I hope you all have a fabulous Autumn season so far… The leaves are changing their colors for sure in the area where we live. They are beautiful in their own ways…

Today I have a mixed media blessed wreath tag to share with you that I created using the  Lattice ARTplorations StencilWonderfall Time Stamp Set,  Blessed Word Die, and Stitched Tags Nesting Dies.

First I cut out the tag base our of watercolor paper. And then I created the background with Art Sprays and water using smooshing technique. I dried it with craft heater and then I the black acrylic paint with make up sponge using the Lattice Stencil.

I added the white gesso on the tag with my finger to muted the background little bit.

I stamped the leaves from the Wonderfall Time stamp set on a watertcolored paper that I created using watercolor paints. After that, I fussy cut the leaves.

I added twine wreath on the tag with adhesive glue and then I arranged those watercolored leaves on the wreath with adhesive glue.

I die cut the Blessed Word Die out of brown cardstock and then I painted it with Metallic Gold Wink of Stella Brush. I added it on the tag with adhesive glue.

I finished this tag with some white acrylic splatters.

I link this tag back to the new November Mixed Media Challenge at STAMplorations blog.

Mixed Media Art Journal | Shine Your Light

Graciellie Design

Hello everyone… This week we were learning about being salt and light at our church youth meetings. Though we might have read the message from Matthew 5:13-16 many times, read it one more time will give us more insight to what Jesus say about who we are, our identity, and our roles in community.

My mixed media art journal today is inspired by God’s word in the Gospel of Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

First, I added some watercolor paint on my Mixed Media page with watercolor paints, and I dried it with craft heater.

Next step, I added some paint splatters on the page with Heidi Swap Color Shine Spray and Marabu Art Spray. Dried it again with craft heater.

I used flat brush to add some of the brush strokes on the page with Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive, let it sit to dry in couple of minutes, and I added some of the Deco Foil Transfer Sheet Teal on it.

For the image and sentiment, I use the new digital stamps from Graciellie Design called Dreamy Girls Digital Stamp Kit and the little flower on her, is a little peek of a new digital kit releasing it soon!!!

I printed the girl image on regular copy paper, and printed the sentiments on mixed media paper 90 lbs. Next, I colored the girl with Primacolors Premium Pencils and Colorless Pencil. After that I fussy cut it with micro-tips scissors. I added it on the page with Dina Wakely Gel Medium.

I fussy cut the word Shine withmicro-tips scissors, and then I trimmed the words, Your & Light, with paper trimmer into 2 pieces. I added them on the page with gel medium. Next, I highlighted and added shades on them with Faber Castell Stamper’s Big Brush Pens.

I finished the page by adding more shadow around the page with the Stabilo Woody Black Pencil and smudged it with my finger.

Thank you for stopping by today… Don’t hide your light, let it shines bright wherever you go…

A Tribute Blog Hop for Melissa Lane

Hello everyone.. welcome to our special tribute blog hop in memory of our crafty friend, Melissa Lane. It is a hard post to write today but we would love to celebrate her beautiful life today.

Melissa passed away on October 2… She was a sweet friend whom I met through couple design teams. She as kind with her words and encouraging others. She inspired me with her love for God, her family, gardening, and cardmaking. On her blog, you can see lots of beautiful works and stories behind them. I am going to miss her a lot… My prayers are for her family that may God comfort her husband, children, and parents with the love and hope in Christ Jesus.

This tribute blog hop for Melissa starts at STAMPlorations Blog where you can see more inspirations form the team. And I created these two sympathy cards with some butterflies on them becuase Melissa loved butterflies.

I used Trendy Butterflies 2 Stamp Set to create the background and the sentiment is from the Fond Expressions Stamp Set. On the left card, I did stamping and watercoloring, and on the right one I used alcohol inks and gold foil sheet along with the stamping.

You Are In My Prayers

For the first card, I stamped the butterflies on the left side of a cardstock with VersaFine Onyx Black on the right side of a watercolor paper. I trimmed the paper into 4″ x 5.25″. I freely painted the butterflies with Sakura Koi Watercolor Paints. I added some splatters with black watercolor paints. I dried the watercolor paper craft heater, and then I stamped the sentiment on it with VersaFine Onyx Black ink pad using my Mini MISTI. I added the finished panel on a dark blue card using dries-clear adhesive glue.

You Are In My Prayers

On the second card, I added some on the alcohol inks on a glossy photo paper using the felt applicator and alcohol blender. I slightly tap the ink on the paper to get the softer look on it. I let it sit to dry for a couple of minutes, and then I added the Deco Foil Gold Sheet on the paper that is still bit tacky to get the gold-ish marble look on it. I let it dried completely before stamping step.

I stamped the butterflies using the VersaFine Clair ink pads. I am so happy to see that they work great on glossy paper, too. I trimmed the 4″ x 6″ photo paper into 4″ x 5.25″ and added it on a light blue card base with Scrapbook Adhesive EZ Runner Grand. I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock with VersaFine Clair – Purple Delight, and then trimmed it into a sentiment banner. I added it on the card with 3D foam tape for extra dimension.

We would like to invite you all to join us in celebrating her life by creating a butterfly card in her memory. You may blog about the card you make as a tribute to her or not, but either way, please add your card to Melissa’s Butterfly Gallery at the end of this tribute post.
