Butterfly Floral Mixed Media Card

CUTplorations January Challenge Reminder

Hello everyone… Butterfly is one of our favorite critters that we can find around the area where we live. I cannot wait for Spring 🙂 Butterflies are heaven-sent kissed of an angel… don’t you agree with that sentiment? And today I have a butterfly floral mixed media card to share with you

Butterfly Floral Mixed Media Card CUTplorations January Challenge

I created this card inspired by this snowy scene and colors from photo inspiration from CUTplorations January Challenge:

STAMPlorations - January 2017 CUTplorations Challenge

I started to create the background by tracing the Bold Florals ARTploratons Stencil on a piece of Arteza Watercolor paper with hot pink Tombow Dual Brush Pen. Then, I colored the inside of the flower and leaves with 2 shades of pink – purple for the flower petals, and 2 shades of green for the leaves. Using a small watercolor brush, I blended the colors and kindda like the bleeding effect.

Next I fill the white space with light blue Tombow Dual brush pen and also blended out the color with small watercolor brush.

I dried the watercolored background panel with craft heater. Then I added some white acrylic paint on it using fan paint brush. I dried it again. And last step I sprayed some of the Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz to add the extra sparkle and frost look in the panel. I dried it right away with craft heater becuase I did not want the ink from Tombow Dual Brush Pens reacted too much with this shimmer spray. Check out the detail on the picture below… Don’t you love the shimmer frosted look on it? 🙂

I cut out the watercolored panel with the largest die from Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangles Nesting Dies and I added it on a white top-fold card base with Xtreme Tombow Adhesive.

Next step is I created the second panel of this card. It is pretty simple. I simply added some yellow and orange watercolor washes on a piece of Arteza watercolor paper. I dried it with craft heater and then I stamped the sentiment from Trendy Butterflies 2 Stamp Set with Versafine Onyx Black using Mini MISTI. I cut it out with the smallest size of the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangles Nesting Dies and then I added it on the card with Xtreme Tombow Adhesive.

Last step is the butterfly. I grab a photo glossy paper, Eggplant Alcohol Ink, and Alcohol Ink Blender to create an alcohol ink background. Then I added some white acrylic paint splatters on it and set it aside to dry for a while. It is not that long of waiting. The acrylic paint dries quickly and we also cannot use craft heater to dry the glossy photo paper, becuase the heat will ruin the paper. Trust me, I learned it.

Once the paper dried well, I cut it out with the solid butterfly die from Flutter Zen 1 Layering Dies. I added it on the card with 3D foam tape for extra dimension to the card. And the card is done.

Growing In Unity Blog Hop and Giveaway

Hello everyone… Happy Sunday! I am so thankful to be one of many Unity Girls in 2017. And today I am joining a group of Unity Gals for the Growing In Unity Blog Hop. Welcome and I hope you all enjoy this blog hop and chances to win the giveaway from Unity Stamp Company! For this blog hop today, I created these 3 Monochromatic, Mixed Media, CAS cards using only 1 stamp set and 1 style design.

I use the gorgeous Let Your Dreams Bloom stamp set from Graciellie Design to create these cards. I love those flower blooms and the sentiments are super sweet.

Each card has the same style but I created the background and stamped the flower in 3 different ways. First card, I tried the foiling technique with stamp and embossing.

I stamped the flower with Versamark Ink, added some super fine white embossing powder, heat set it, added the DecoFoil paper on top of the embossed image, and run it through the laminating machine without carrier. It works like MAGIC 😀 Check it out…

I added some watercolor paint splatters on the card panel and stamped the image with Rose Bud Memento Dew Drop Ink and Mini MISTI. I stamped the sentiment 3 times to get the darker shade and bolder. I did the same step for the rest of the cards.

For these second card, I created the background with smooshing technique using Distress Ink pads, water, and acetate plastic.

I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black ink pad and color it with Tombow Dual Brush Pens. I used Spectrum Noir Sparkle Brush Pen to blend make it look like watercolor and added some glitters at the same time. Check out the detail…

For the last card, I did the same step with the second card to create the background with darker color. Then I sprayed the whole background panel with mixture of Perfect Pearl powder and water for the pearly shiny background.

I Love You Forever, Cross Stitching Card

A Jillian Vance Design

Hello everyone… Valentine’s Day is coming up soon! Can you feel the love is in the air already (though kindda chilly here in Ohio :D)? Today I am back with a love themed card, I Love You Forever, a cross stitching card.

I Love You Forever, Cross Stitching Card with A Jillian Vance Design

This card brings back some memories when I was in Elementary and Middle School. I did lots of cross-stitching and hand embroidery school projects.

I created my card using the Cross Stitch Love Stamp Set, Hoop It Up Die Set, and the new Pegboard Cover Plate.

So, when I saw the Pegboard Die, I imagine that I could do some cross-stitching with this die. I tried and I LOVE IT 🙂 Visit A Jillian Vance Design Blog today to find out how I created this card with their stamp sets and die sets.

THANK YOU so much for stopping by today. Have a fabulous and great day!

Your Smile Lights Up The World

CUTplorations January Challenge

Hello every one… HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Another year has gone by and here we are today stepping into the new year of 2018. Our hope and prayer for you all thatThe Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever (Psalms 121:7-8).

Kicking of this new year, here’s the first new challenge inspiration for CUTplorations January Challenge. Isn’t this snowy scene beautiful?

Here’s my take on this month challenge. I create a CAS Mixed Media card inspired by the sky and snow:

CUTplorations January 2018 Challenge

The background I created by adding the Distress inks (Mustard Seed, Seedless Preserve, Black Soot, Faded Jeans, Dusty Concord) on a white cardstock using sponge applicator, then I sprayed with water and dabbed it off with paper towel. Then I added some white acrylic paint splatters with fan watercolor brush. I used craft heater to dry the panel and then I cut it with the largest die from Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

CUTplorations January 2018 Challenge

I stamped three of the houses from Houses stamp set by The Bee’s Knees with Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad, then I fussy cut them one by one. Then I added the 2 tall houses on the background panel dries clear liquid adhesive and the shorter house with 3D foam adhesive on the front.

Then using palette knife, I added the DecoArt Snow on the roofs, window and some at the bottom of the house for the snowy ground. This snow paste dries quickly.

Your Smile Lights Up The World - CUTplorations January Challenge

For the sentiment, I stamped one of the phrases from Fond Expressions 2 stamp set by Shery Russ Designs with Mustard Seed Distress Ink on a white cardstock strip, cut the tail with micro-tip scissors, and I run it through my die cutting machine with one of the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies to match the stitching pattern on the top of the background panel.

I added the sentiment banner on the background panel with couple mini staples on it to hold it in place and as embellishment.

I added the finished panel on the white card base using permanent adhesive runner. And the card is done.

Visit STAMPlorations blog today to see more inspirations from the CUTplorations Challenge team. I hope you are inspire to crate.

Have a fabulous crafty day! Thank you for stopping by today and don’t forget to keep smiling becuase your smile brighten the world around you 🙂
