April Art Journal: Butterflies, Succulent, and Rainbow

Hello everyone….Today I have an Art Journal Page to share with you. This month, I learn new things and try something new about mixed media technique and I have so much fun when I created this page.

On this page, I experimented with some mediums: Texture Paste, Distress Crayons, Caribbean Color Brust Powder, Black Archival Ink, Stamper’s Big Brush Pens, and Perfect Pearls mixture spray.

I also use the Succulent stencil from Stencil Girl and the new stamp set from STAMPlorations, Trendy Butterfly 2.

To create the rainbow-y background, I sprinkle some powder from the Carribean Color Burst set and spray them with the Perfect Pearls mixture spray. I love the extra texture and colors show appeared after the spraying.

Then I added the texture paste with the Succulent stencil in the middle of the page, dried it with craft heater, and then using my finger I added the blue, teal and purple distress crayons. Then I sprinkle a little of purple and teal color burst in the middle of the succulents and sprayed with the Perfect Pearls spray. Look at the extra shine and pearly look on them 🙂

Then I drew the frame with black Stamper’s Big Brush Pen and colored it with the dark brown Stamper’s Big Brush Pen.

And then I stamped the butterlies randomly on the page with Black Archival Ink. Then I decided to sprinkle a little color burst powder on each of them for extra colors 🙂

I stamped the sentiments on white cardstock with archival ink, cut it out, and added some dark brown frame on each of them using the Stamper’s Big Brush Pen. I added them on the page with 3D foam tape.

I love how it turned out when I finished. With mixed media, I learn to expect the unexpected results 🙂 I hope you can enjoy this page as much as I do.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

STAMPlorations Things With Wings Blog Hop

Kicking of this Things With Wings Blog Hop… I created a mixed media card with some texture paste, Metallic Gelatos, stamping, and die cutting.

STAMPlorations Things With Wings Blog Hop

First, I added some texture paste on the background with the Delicate Links – ARTplorations Stencil, and then I added some of the Metallic Gelatos on it. I blended the colors with damp baby wipe. Then I run it through my die cutting machine with the largest size of the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

STAMPlorations Things With Wings Blog Hop

For the butterfly, I die cut both base and top of the Flutter Zen 1 Layering Dies – CUTplorations with 2 shades of pink cardstocks. And I only added glue in the middle of the butterfly and I fluffed the wings a little bit for 3D look.

The sentiment is from the Fond Expressions 2 – Sherry Russ Designs. I stamped it on a white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink pad and then cut it out and added it on the card with strong adhesive becuase it sits on tip of the stenciled texture paste background.

There are 60+ SUPER SPONSORS who are generously giving away prizes, one of them is STAMPlorations. I am sharing 2 mixed media cards that I created with STAMPlorations coffee stamps and CUTplorations dies.

My first card is inspired by the March theme and sketch challenge on STAMPlorations blog:

On my first card, I colored the sunflower from Color Blooms Coloring Book (designed by Shery Russ) with ShinHan Touch Twin Marker and Faber Castell Big Brush Pen. Then I added some glitter on it with Spectrum Sparkle Glitter Brush Pen.

Spring Coffee Loving Blog Hop: STAMPlorations

Then I cut the colored paper with the cup die from Anywhere There’s Coffee stamps and die set. I cut out the cup again one more time with black cardstock to stack it behind the sunflower cup.

Spring Coffee Loving Blog Hop: STAMPlorations

I stamped the Coffee Bags In A Row on a white cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink pad. I made a mask and stamped it again on top of the first row bottom. Then I colored them with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and watercolor brush. Then I die cut the finished panel with the one of the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies – CUTplorations.

And for the sentiment, I added some Color Brust powder on my craft mat, sprayed with some water, then smooshed a watercolor paper on it to create the marble look. Then I die cut it with the Java Great Day Phrase Die – CUTplorations.

For my second card, I inspired by the sketch from Sip and Share Sketch on Coffee Loving Cardmaker blog.

On my second card, I used another paper from the Color Blooms coloring book and colored the  flowers with Distress Crayon.

I stamped the cup from the Coffee Happy stamp set on another Color Brust panel background with Versafine Onyx Black. Then I fussy cut it with micro-tip scissors.

Spring Coffee Loving Blog Hop: STAMPlorations

And I die cut the sentiment with the Hug in a Mug Phrase Die – CUTplorations and black cardstock. Then I added it on the card with glue pen.

I finished my card with some clear gems and natural twine.

Mixed Media Card: It’s Your Birthday

Hello everyone… I am back again… Today I have 2 blog posts for you to check out. The first one is Our Daily Bread Designs Anniversary Blog Hop, and second post is about a mixed media birthday card.

I was inspired by the STAMPlorations March sketch and theme when I created this card using Smile stamp setKathryn’s Birthday stamp setMixed Media Grunge stamp setZen Hearts Stensil.

The background I created with Ken Oliver – Color Bursts Caribbean powder and mixture of Perfect Pearl powder and water spray. And I used the ghosting technique with the stencil on it, too. Then I stamped the bubble wrap and dots pattern on the watercolored panel with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

STAMPlorations March Theme & Sketch Challenge

Then I stamped the leaves branches on the other color burst background paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink, then fussy cut them out. I added some sparkle glitter on them using Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glitter Brush Pen. I added them on the card with some do adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment on a white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and cut out the pennant tail. I did the same thing with the black cardstock and slightly overlap them to give a shadow under the white one.

I finished the card with some of the flower wood veneers.
