Mixed Media Christmas Card: Our Little King

Christmas is 53 more days from today! It is getting closer to the day we will celebrate the birth of our King of kings, Jesus Christ. God given him many names and one of the names is He is Immanuel, means God is with us.

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!

She will give birth to a son,

and they will call him Immanuel.

which means ‘God is with is.”

(Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 7:14; 8:8-10)

Isn’t that amazing? God is with us! Literally He was, is and will always be with us through the birth of Jesus Christ and His presence in our lives!

On my Christmas card today, I found this cute nativity scene digital stamp from Sami Stamps. It is called Our Little King. I printed it out after I resized it big enough to fit on my A2 card. Then I colored it with Crafter’s Companion – Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils, Primary Colors. After that I fussy cut it with micro-tip scissors.

For the background card, I created a galaxy look background with Distress Mini Ink: Picked Raspberry, Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves and Mustard Seed. I added the white paint splatters with a toot brush and a medium round paint. I also added some splatters of water and wiped it with paper towel. And final splatters are some Shimmerz Gold Paint with medium round paint brush. I know… lots of splatters on this card background 😀

The stamp I used is from Joy Clair – A Child Is Born, one of the new stamp sets released this month. I heat-embossed the sentiment with Ranger White Embossing powder. Before I stamped the sentiment, I make sure the background dry well by heat it up with Craft Heater, so the embossing powder won’t stick.

Once the background is ready and stamped, I added the colored digital image with 3D foam tape for some dimensional. I do not think this card need more embellishment because I want the center of every thing is the baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary, and the sentiment.

That’s my mixed-media card today and thank you for visiting me today! Have a fabulous blessed day!

Mixed Media Card: Monoprint With Leaves

Crafty friends, welcome to the new Happy Little Stampers – Mixed Media October Challenge. This month theme is Nature. There are many ways you can interpret the theme.

On my project today, I did gelli printing with leaves I found at our backyard and acrylic paints:

hls-oct-mixedmedia-03

I had a piece of gelli print that I had left over from last project in gold, orange and yellow color. I added the red paint on the Gelli Arts printing plate with rubber brayer, then I added the leaves. Then I added a piece of scrap paper on it, rubbed all over the paper, the lifted it up. The paint transferred on the scrap paper, leave the leaves on the gelli printing plate. Gently I picked them up one by one.

Then I grab the other gelli print paper I had and put on top of the paint on the gelli print plate. Then after rubbing all over the back of the paper, I lifted it up and got this print below:

LOVE the bright fall colors I got from the gelli printing this time. This gelli printing technique is very unique. You cannot print the same pattern. Every you print, you’ll get only one of the kind 🙂

I added a strip of pattern paper on top of the card, then I added the gelli print paper on the card.

I stamped the sentiment from Unity – September KOTM with Versafine Onyx Black on a white cardstock, cut it out, and punch a hole on the corner with WRMK Crop-A-Dile. I tied up some May Arts Natural Twine and added the tag on it.

Isn’t that the printed leaves so unique? I love the surprise I get from each print for sure 🙂

Mixed Media Thank You Card

Good morning crafty friends, today I am sharing this mixed media card on a2z Scrapbooking blog with the stencils, stamps and frame dies.

29783085970_157aac9c32_z

I created the background with one of the Petals Stencil Pair and Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate. I added some gold acrylic paint on the plate, spread it with rubber brayer, added the stencil and added the cardstock on top of it. I rubbed it gently all over so that the paint would transfer evenly. And then lifted it up and set aside to dry. Acrylic paints dries quickly. Once the panel dried well, I die cut it with one of the Fancy Frame dies (Craftin Desert Divas).

I stamped some of the leaves from the Color Layering Grateful for You Leaves Clear Stamp with some fall color inks (CTMH), and then die-cut them with the matching Layering Grateful Leaves Frame Cut Dies. Then I die-cut the word thanks 4 times from Thanks Stamp & Cut and I stacked them together and glued them with glue pen.

Once I have everything ready, I put them together on the card 🙂 First the gelli printed background, then I arranged the leaves and glued them on the card, added the stacked die-cut sentiment, and I finished the card with some gold sequins.

ADORNit ‘it’ Girl And Blessed Friends Ambassadors

I am so thankful to God for giving me an opportunity to work and serve at home and from home. Because of that I can have time to create projects.

When I look back to the crafting, scrapbooking, papercrafting, cardmaking, mixed media, and Bible Journaling projects, all I can do is giving thanks for my husband who always encourage and support me in this journey, and my daughters who never stop inspire me with their loves and everyday smile. Also, there are so many people that have helped me to step out of my comfort zone and grow. I am thankful for so many video tutorials and even only picture tutorials on blogs, YouTube, craft forums, and being part of amazing design teams. But I always open to learn and explore!

Mixed Media: Distress Crayons, Stencils and Stamps

At the beginning of this year, I decided to try Mixed Media and I found it is a unique art, unexpected result, and I cannot control the outcome. Those facts I found are not in my comfort zone of creating.

I have done some 8×11 canvases, cards and tags. And I love working on mixed media projects and they help me to learn to let go things that I cannot control and trusting myself more to explore the unexpected results 🙂 Nervous, yes. But I saw the unexpected result of every single layer of medium I added on a project, it surprised me. And this keep me exploring and playing with mediums.

I have been making tags for my Tag Ring 2016. They are tags with encouraging words that I hope later when I am done with this project, I have word tags that I can look it up again to remind me the good things and positive things of life.

So today I am sharing not only 1 tag, but 5 tags 🙂 On these tags, I did some experiments with my Distress Crayons, Stencils, Stamps, Embossing Paste and Gesso after watching some YouTube videos on working with Distress Crayons. Here are my favorite basic tutorials of using these crayons for mixed media projects:

For my tags, I used Canson Watercolor papers 140 lbs. These papers are great to work with multi mediums and water. I prepped all the tags with Wakley White Gesso. I did a test on an unprepped tag, the Distress Crayons did not blend well. And on the prepped tags they blended smoothly and well. My blending tool for the project is my fingers 🙂
