Crafty friends, today I am sharing with you super fun technique that I just learned from the Stamp Nation – Technique Tool Box class.
In the classroom, Ingrid shared a very fun technique using stencil with Gelli Arts Plat and Acrylic Paints. I am hooked! After I saw her video, I ordered a 5×7 Gelli Arts Plate and a Mod Podge Brayer from Amazon. There are verious sizes of the Gelli Plates that you can choose the best sizes for your need. Since I am making cards, I get the 5×7 size. I might get the 8×10 in the future 🙂
If you interested in learning this technique, search on YouTube, you’ll find lots of tutorials, but these are my recomendation for you to watch:
- Shery Russ: video 1, video 2, video 3
- Julie Fei-Fan Balzer – Gelli Printed Background
- ELlen Hutson LLC: Mono Print For The First Time with Gelli Arts
- Gelli Arts: Monoprinting Layers Step by Step
So, here are the first 2 cards I made using this techniques:
Stencils set is from Hero Arts. The first card, I printed the positive over the negative prints to create this background. I love the Batik look on it 🙂 Then I added the Lawn Fawn black puffy stickers for Hello and I wrote the friend using Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen that I secured it with Mini Stapler from CTMH. The twine is from American Crafts and I finished the card with some blue gems.
Second card, also I used the stencil set from Hero Arts, chipboard is from BasicGrey, paper doily and the twine is from a crafty friend. I added some clear gems for extra bling 🙂
On both cards, I used Strathmore Mixed Media papers with cheap acrylic paints came in a mini kit I got from TJMaxx a while ago. These paints dried very fast, I could not get the third prints. But for the next project, I will use acrylic paints I have for Bible Journaling and we’ll see if that will work 🙂
Some crafty friends told me that when I started it, I couldn’t stop making these prints, and guess what? They were right! Creating these prints are just so much fun and the results are unexpected, you’ll be surprised by the prints you make with stencils and layering them.
Have you ever tried monoprints before?
Thanks for visiting me today and hope you have a fantastic day!

Thank you for visiting, Bozena 🙂
Wow, Helen, your monoprints are awesome! I recently got the 5X7 gelli plate but haven’t tried it yet. My craft room is in a state of chaos right now from having just made 54 cards to give to my Bible study teacher and fellow students! So until I get it cleaned up and make some room to spread out I’ll just have to admire your work!!
I also love that you’re sharing your faith (and mine!) on your blog and in your talents!
Hugs,
Beth
