Sending Big Hugs ~ Heat Embossing Resist With Distress Crayon

Hello everyone… It is August already! I know Summer is almost the end of the season and you still have list to do on your bucket list… but let’s make every moment counts and making memory every day with your loved ones.

Today, I am inspired by the colors and the flowers on this mood board at Joy Clair August Challenge when I created my card. This is a monthly challenge that you all are invited to play along using any old and new stamps from different companies from your stash, BUT if you use any Joy Clair stamp sets, you have the double of opportunities to win the prize!!!

This month, we are challenge to create any projects using any technique. So… I am using these stamp sets on my card today and using Heat Embossing Resist technique with White Embossing Powder and Distress Crayon.

I started with creating the flower. I stamped one of the flowers from Spring Time Flowers stamp set on a watercolor paper using Mini MISTI and VersaMark Ink Pad. Then I added the Super FIne White Embossing Powder on the stamped image, and heat it with craft heater.

To color the flower, I scribble some of the Aged Mahogany Distress Crayon on craft mat, and picked the color up with waterbrush. I loved how it turned out look liked distressed watercolored flower cluster. I set it aside to dry. After that, I fussy cut the flower cluster with micro-trip scissors.

I stamped the Wood Background Stamp on a watercolor paper using Mini MISTI and VersaMark Ink Pad. Then I sprinkled some of the Super Fine White Embossing Powder. I heat it up with craft heater. Instead of scribble the crayon on craft mat, I colored the stamped image directly. Simply scribbled on the surface like kid, and then using baby wipe, I blended the color and with this step, the color resist the embossed wood background image.

After that step, I trimmed the panel down to 4.75″ x 4.25″ and I added it on a A2 White Card with strong dries-clear adhesive glue.

I added the fussy cut flower cluster on the card with 3D foam tape for extra dimension.

For the sentiment, I stamped the words from the Hello Sentiments Stamp Set on a white cardstock with VersaFine Onyx Black. I trimmed the 2 words into pieces and doodled the lines to create mini frame. For the word “sending”, I simply fussy cut it around the word. I added them on the card with dries-clear adhesive glue.

The card is done. I hope this inspire you… and hopefully you will have a chance to play along with the Joy Clair August Challenge. Share with us your project and technique that you use to create it.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. Have a wonderful day!
