In his blog, Pastor Tullian Tchividjian wrote this,
The only way to musically communicate God’s timeless activity in the life of the church is to blend the best of the past with the best of the present. In other words, we must remember in our worship that while “contemporary only” people operate with their heads fixed frontwards, never looking over their shoulder at the stock from which they have come, and “traditional only” people operate with their heads on backwards, romanticizing about the past and always wanting to go back, the Church, in contrast from both extremes, is called upon to be a people with swiveling heads: learning from the past, living in the present, and looking to the future. That’s the only way to avoid in worship what C.S. Lewis called “chronological snobbery.”
Lima Prinsip Dasar pengetahuan tentang Allah yang dimiliki orang Kristen adalah:
1. Allah telah berbicara kepada manusia, dan Alkitab adalah firman-Nya, yang diberikan kepada kita untuk membuat kita bijak dan menuntun kita menuju keselamatan.
2. Allah itu Tuhan dan Raja atas dunia yang Ia ciptakan. Ia memerintah atas segala sesuatu untuk kemuliaan-Nya sendiri dengan menyatakan kesempurnaan-Nya dalam segala sesuatu yang Ia kerjakan, agar manusia dan malaikat menyembah dan memuja Dia.
3. Allah itu Juru Selamat, aktif dalam kasih-Nya yang berdaulat melalui Tuhan Yesus Kristus untuk menyelamatkan orang percaya dari rasa bersalah dan kuasa dosa, untuk mengangkat merekamenjadi anak-anak-Nya, dan untuk memberkati mereka.
4. Allah adalah Tritunggal; dalam ke-Allah-an ada tiga Pribadi: Bapa, Anak, dan Roh Kudus. Karya keselamatan merupakan tindakan ketiga Pribadi itu secara bersama-sama. Bapa merencanakan penebusan, Anak melakukannya, Roh Kudus menerapkannya.
5. Kesalehan berarti menggapi pernyataan Allah dengan kepercayaan dan ketaatan, iman dan penyembahan, doa dan pujian. Penyerahan diri dan pelayanan. Kehidupan harus dilihat dan dijalani dalam terang firman Allah. Inilah agama yang benar, dan bukan yang lain.
