Hello everyone! I hope you all are well and safe. Today I would like to share with you a new page of my mixed media art journal, Peace and Patience.
These two words speak loud in my heart lately, especially in my recovery journey and this uncertain time. God reminds me to be patience and be still in Him. He will give us hope and strength while waiting for Him in faith.
I am sharing a step-by-step tutorial with pictures at Clear Scraps Blog today so that you also can create it.
On my art journal page, I used Clear Scraps Stencils:
I got this new Zinnia Stencil a couple of moths ago and I knew it was time to use it for my art journal this month. When I work with stencils, I like to spray my stencils with Pixie Spray.
For the background, I used the Arteza Gouache (Silver, Yellow Ochre,Emerald Green, and Cerulean Blue) and White Gesso. I applied them on the page with the brayer.
I also used the Teal Woody Stabillo Watercolor Crayon and Black Woody Stabillo Watercolor Crayon on the page. I used a wet round brush to blend the colors and while still wet, I tilted up the journal to get some drips on the page. I dried the watercolor paint with craft heater.
And then, I added some old hymnal paper strips on the page using permanent glue stick. After that, I used a flat brush to apply some more white gesso on the paper stripes to blend them in.
I used the 6″ Zinnia Stencil. I applied some DecoFoil Aged Copper Metallix Gel with pallet knife. I carefully removed the stencil and carefully drying the gel with craft heater. But the best way is to let it air dry.
I added the 6″ Fruit of the Spirit on the page, and I used post it tape to mask the other letters around the word “Patience.” I added the VersaFine Clair Nocturne Pigment Ink on the stencil using foam dauber. I removed the stencil carefully because the pigment ink was still wet. After that I dried the ink with craft heart.
I repeated the same step for the next words, “Be Still” using the 3×12 Peace Be Still Border Stencil.
I added more flowers and leaves around the page to fill up the white space.
I added some white highlight around the Zinnia flower in the middle of the page using the White Woody Stabillo Watercolor Crayon and wet brush.
For more texture on the page, I added some paint splatters using Marabu Mixed Media Art Spray Cocoa and White Spray that I made my own. I dried the whole page carefully one more time with craft heater.
I hope this project give you an idea to create today. Thank you so much for stopping by our blog today. Have a wonderful day, crafty friends!
