Love TAGPlorations Blog Hop Day 5

It is the Day 5 of the Love TAGplorations Blog Hop. There are many gorgeous inspirations from the STAMPlorations Girls on the blog today. Come and blog-hopping with us! Do not forget to leave comment along the way for chances to enter the giveaway (info at the bottom of this post) 🙂

Today’s card is a masculine, mixed media card. Masculine is not my strong style, but I keep challenging myself to try 🙂 I mostly with the color combo and CAS style for it.

I added some neon green, yellow, green leaf and white acrylic paints on the wood grain pattern paper. Then I run it through my die cutting machine with the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies – CUTplorations. I added the background panel on the white card base with adhesive runner.

Then I cut out a tag with Luggage Tags Nesting Dies – CUTplorations from a white cardstock and added the green chevron ribbon on it with mini stapler. I added it on the background panel with some glue dots.

Next is working on the pocket flower with the new Pocket Blooms with CUTplorations Pocket Die – Shery Russ Designs.

I have been making monoprints with my gelli plate and have them in my stash. I grabbed one of them that have a matching colors to the background 🙂 Then I stamped the flower on the monoprinted paper with archival ink. I used my MISTI tool for crips image by stamping it couple times becuase the monoprinted paper has some texture on it. Then I fussy cut the flower.

I die cut the pocket out of a navy blue cardstock using the matching pocket die that come with the set. Then I added the flower on top of the tag with 3D foam tape, and next I added the pocket die cut on top of it with 3D foam tape, too.

For the sentiment, I stamped the words that come in the stamp set with archival black ini, and cut out into word strips. I added them on the card just with glue dots.

That’s my masculine mixed media card today and I hope you all will like it and be inspired to make your own handmade card for this Valentine’s Day.

Psalm 127: Watercoloring On Journaling Bible Page Tutorial

Hello Everyone! Bible Journaling has becoming one of the ways I can spend my time with the LORD. It is the time I can hear and read His word, also I can spend time to dig deeper and write specific words spoken to me.

This week, Psalms 127 speak loud to me about home, family, children and our city or country:

Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted.

Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.

It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night,

anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.

Children are a gift from the lord; they are a reward from him.

Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.

How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!

He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.

This phrase, “Unless the LORD…” is saying that no matter what we do and how hard we work to build our home, raising our children and even building our city, only the LORD who is the strong foundation to build upon, who is the on who protects and guards the city, and He has our children in His hands, ready to release them like arrows in the hand of the Warrior. Our part is to commit every single aspect in His hands and to pray for His plan to be fulfilled!

Today, I am sharing a watercoloring on journaling Bible page tutorial on Joy Clair blog using the new Color By Faith – Prayer Warrior.

Before we jump into the steps how I created this page, I’d like to share a quick tip. I did not prep my Bible Journaling page with any gesso or mod podge. After I watercoloring on it, it wrinkle, but worry not, you can always iron the page with a layer of copy paper on top of the Bible page to flatten it.

First step, I stamped directly the warrior image and sentiment on the wide margin/journaling section with waterproof archival ink. Once the ink dry, you can start adding the watercolor paint. I used my craft heater to speed up the drying 🙂

I picked up the watercolor paint with watercolor brush. I tried not use too much water to prevent more wrinkle or even bleeding through. I blended the colors as adding them on the page. With less water, also we can prevent pooling problem on the page that sometimes will ruin the page if we do not prep the page.

I used my craft heater to dry the page. And started the next step.

For the warrior image I colored it with watercolor pencils. I love using watercolor pencils because it is easier to color at the smaller areas and do the blending at the same time. Using a small round watercolor brush, I wet the colors and turned them into watercolor paint. Once in a while, I picked up the pigment directly on the pencils to add more color on the page and more shading.

Then I decided to add extra texture and shine on the page. Metallic Gelatos are great for this. They won’t bleed through and easy for mixing medium. So, I added some of the Ice Metallic Gelatos  randomly on the page and smudged it with my finger.

Then I added some plus signs here and there with my Faber Castle White Stamper’s Big Brush Pen. This pen also won’t bleed through.

Then I drew some lines to create a box to highlight the verses from Psalms 127 with the Faber Castell Artist PITT Brush Pen. For me it is important to be able to read the verses that God has spoken to me.

This stamp set full of amazing images and sentiment that you can use to create a Bible Journaling page, or handmade card, or home decor, or any other craft that related with prayers and be a prayer warrior. Here’s the preview of the stamp set I use today:

February Art Journal: Beautiful

Hello everyone… I start creating art journal since past January. Yes… I am a newbie in this art journal journey 🙂 SO MANY to learn and to explore. Just thankful for YouTube tutorials where I have been learning some technique and tips from experts!

Before I decided to jump into art journaling, I actually have been watching lots of videos and inspired by lots of mixed media artists and friends. I already got a mixed media book for some other projects, but then I tried to create a page last month and totally enjoyed the process. So… I think will continue create a page a month as a start for this newbie 🙂

Today I would love to share with you my February Art Journal:

February Art Journal: Beautiful

It is February, so I have the heart and candy heart colors in my mind when I created this page.

I added some extra texture with stencils and texture page on the Color Burst watercolored background.

Next, I added some torn papers from the Color Blooms coloring book using gel medium. Then I painted the heart with Gelatos and doodled some heart outlines on it with PITT artist pen. I added the shadow with Stamper’s Big Brush pens and PITT artist brush pen, too.

I finished it with the stamped sentiment and stamping randomly on the page.

Here’s the fill list of the supplies I use today:

  • Canson XL Mixed Media Book
  • STAMPlorations Bold Sentiment stamp set and Mixed Media Grunge stamp set
  • Crisscrossed ARTplorarions stencil and Droplets ARTplorations stencil
