The Antidote For Fear

But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.”

(Isaiah 43:1)

“Fear not” appears 365 times in an older version of the Bible. Like a daily vitamin, God has provided just what is needed to move on and to conquer one’s fear. One faces one’s fears with fact. God says that we do not have to fear because of the fact that his presence accompanies us through the unpredictable events of life. He has redeemed us–setting us free from the slavery of fear. He calls us by name–he knows us intimately. He says we are his—we are his children, his beloved.

It’s only two words–“fear not”–easier to preach than to practice, but easier to practice with the fact of God’s power and presence accompany us through every dark alley of life.

Annotated Vows

Annotated Vow

This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.
Genesis 2:24

Weddings are about vows. The flowers are fragrant, the dresses beautiful, and the tuxes dashing, but the promises take center stage. Yet compared to the high costs of typical weddings, the vows come cheap. The promises a bride and groom exchange cost nothing to say. But they cost everything to keep. They can be said calmly in less than twenty seconds, but they are meant to be lived out for a lifetime.

For this reason, I have asked couples during premarital counseling to join me for one session of attention to the vows. I usually take them to the very place where they will say them to each other and then I explain the plan. Since the wedding is not a setting where we can talk at length about the vows, it is crucial that both partners express what they intend the vows to mean and seek to understand their partner’s meaning. Often this is the first time a couple actually thinks about the content of the vows. Sometimes they’re surprised by the promises.

Remember Them Today

“As you meditate on the significance of the birth of Jesus, remember those for whom Jesus remains a foreigner because they’ve never heard the good news in the language they understand best.”

How Can We Become An Encouragement To Others Today?

As Jesus’ followers, we have a command to love and to encourage each other, not only those who are believers, but also to those who are not believers. In that way we can show God’s love and care to each other. So the world can see that we are Jesus’ disciples and God’s children.

These are simple ways that we can do all the time. I concluded them from the reading I attached below. Those ways are:

1. Good words. We can write a card, or a text messeage, or drop a message in someone inbox, or may be we can make a phone call just to say something positive that we know we can encourage the person in need. A simple good word will make up their day.

2. Be a good listener. We can just sit there an be a good listener to those who need someone to listen to them. Struggling people always need someone to be there for them so just they will know somebody cares for them. To be there for others is a way to show God’s loving care to them. Will you be there for a needy friend/family?

3. Prayer. “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (James 5:16).
God always hears our prayers for others who need God’s help and intervention in their lives so they will know God, experience God, and they will know that God never forsake nor forget them. God will answers our prayers in ways to show He is God and in control, so then all of us will praise Him for the answers.
