joyclair-dec2016-jan2017-challenge-helengullett

I am using the new Coffee Love stamp set from Joy Clair. I stamped the coffee mug on a A2 size Canson Watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx Black. Then I colored it with ADORNit Watercolor Pencils and watercolor brush. Then I picked up some pigment directly from the dark brown watercolor pencils with wet watercolor brush and added some splatters on panel. Once it dried, I run it through my die cutting machine and cut it with ODBD Custom Die – Double Stitched Rectangles Dies. And I added the pannel on a A2 kraft card base with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue for the frame and 3D foam tape for the panel.

For the sentiment, I created a marble look paper with some Tombow Dual Brush markers and water on a piece of Canson watercolor paper. I dried each layer to create the marble look. Then I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and die-cut it with one of the new ODBD Custom Dies – Pennant Flags Dies. And I added it on the card with 3D foam tape.

I finished my card with some clear gems to give it extra bling 🙂 I hope you all will play along with Joy Clair Monthly Challenge this December 2016 and January 2017!

THANK YOU for visiting me today and have a fabulous blessed day!

I die cut some of the pennants with the Pennant Flags Dies, and Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies, and then I stamped the sentiment from  Pennat Flag Verses clear stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black on the bigger pennant.

I cut out the plaid patterend paper and added it on the front card base. Then I die cut the flower patterned paper with one of the ODBD Custom Die – Rectangles Dies. I use natural twine to tie the pennants around the die cut panel and add a clear gem. Then I added it on the card with 3D foam tape.

I also stamped a sentiment inside the card using the Pennat Flag Verses clear stamp set with TE – Jelly Donut Ink Pad. It still has plenty space for writing extra message, too.

odbd-praying-01-hg

First, I trimmed one of the patterned papers as big as the size of A2 card base. And then I die cut it with ODBD Custom Dies – Double Stitched Rectangles Dies. I added the first frame panel on an A2 white card base with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue and then the second die cut panel in the middle but slightly diagonal with the same glue. Set a side to dry.

I stamped the Praying Hands image from Handle With Prayer rubber stamp set on Canson watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I colored it with Spectrum Noir – Aqua Markers and watercolor brush. Once the image dried, I run it through my die cutting machine with the matching Praying Hands Die. I added it on the center of the card with some 3D foam tape to give extra dimension.

And I cut out the Prayering Border Die with heavy weight white cardstock and I trimmed the extra border to fit in the frame. I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to add it on the card right under the Praying Hands.

odbd-praying-02-hg

I also stamped the Praying Hands with softer ink on the inside card, then stamped 2 of the sentiments from the Handle With Prayer rubber stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black on top of the praying hands image. I love the messages on this stamp set.

Floating Watercolored Christmas Ornament Card

Hello everyone… Today I am sharing another Christmas card I made with a fun, interactive, floating element on it with stamping, die-cutting, heat-embossing, and watercoloring.

Floating Watercolored Ornament Card -- www.helengullett.com/?p=10637

The other day, I found a YouTube tutorial how to make this fun floating card (you can watch it here). This is a new technique for me to try and I love it.

First step is to create window. I cut out the window on the card base and then cut out another one out the patterned paper with the same die. I set them aside for now to work on the floating ornament.

Floating Watercolored Ornament Card -- www.helengullett.com/?p=10637

I love the new Christmas Ornament stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs. I picked one of the vintage ornament stamps to use on my card today. Using my MISTI tool, I did the double-stamping and heat-embossing with the ornament stamp to get the bold gold lines for watercoloring.

Floating Watercolored Ornament Card -- www.helengullett.com/?p=10637

I used Spectrum Noir – Aqua Markers to color it and then adding some more pearl watercolor paint using Pearlescents paint to give the extra pearly and shiny on it. I think that what ornament is, shiny!

Using the matching ornament die, I die-cut the watercolored ornament and then I die cut it again with just a white cardstock for the backing.

Now that I had all the pieces, I essambled the card by following the video tutorial. I happened to have the Tombow Xtreme adhesive, but if you don’t you can use any strong glue for the floating part just to make sure that it holds the element good in the center of the window.

Floating Watercolored Ornament Card -- www.helengullett.com/?p=10637

I also stamped a sentiment inside the card. To make sure inside sentiment is in the center of the floating element when you close the card, you can close the card and then using pencil  you can trace the element on the inside card base, then stamp the sentiment in the middle of traced image. Erase the pencil when your stamped sentiment dry so won’s smudge.

That’s my card today and I hope it give you some more inspiration to create Holiday card today. And here is the full supply list I used on my card:

THANK YOU so much for stopping by and have a fabulous blessed day!

Christmas Card Challenges – Anything Goes

Christmas Is One Month Away, More Christmas Cards

Hello everyone… I hope you all had a fabulous and joyful Thanksgiving Day with your loved ones yesterday. We had a great time with my family here in USA, though I always miss my family back in Indonesia, too. So… Thanksgiving has passed and now… Christmas is 1 month from today!

I still have more Christmas cards to share with you all 🙂 Today, I am sharing 2 cards I made with Our Daily Bread Designs November New Release stamps, custom dies, and paper collections.

CAS Christmas Greetings

My first card is clean and simple. I simply cut the stripe patterned paper from ODBD – Snowflake Season Collection 6×6 paper pad into 3.25″ x 5.5″ and added it in the middle of the A2 White card base.

For the sentiment, I cut a rectangle black cardstock (2.75″ x 1.25″). On the black label, I stamped the sentiment from ODBD – Jingle Bell Time stamp set and then I added some of the Super Fine White Embossing Powder. I heat it up with my Craft Heater. Adter that, I added the sentiment label on the card with adhesive runner.

I embellished the card with some snowflakes that I die cut some of the snowflakes from White heavy cardstock with ODBD Custom Die – Snow Crystals. I added light blue watercolor paint on one of it. When the colored snowflake dried well, I added them on the card with Liquid Glass glue. Then I added some Silver sequins with Liquid Glass glue.

Merry & Bright Shaker Card

My second card is no-bulky shaker card. Basically, the shaker window is not bulky because I do not use any 3D foam tape. I saw a tutorial on YouTube. Jennifer showed how to make this card so easy 🙂

I die cut A2 White card base with ODBD Custom Die – Rectangles to create a window on the card base. And then I die cut the holly leaves patterned paper from ODBD – Holly Jolly Collection 6×6 paper pad to create the front panel window with ODBD Custom Die – Double Stiched Rectangles. I added the patterned paper on top of the card base with adhesive runner. The window on the card base is smaller so it show a white trim, I colored the white trim edges with Moss Green – Spectrum Aqua Marker fine tip.

Merry & Bright Shaker Card

On a piece of acetate paper, I stamped the sentiment from ODBD Merry & Bright clear stamp set with StazOn black ink pad. I set it aside to dry while I was working on the Christmas Light strings. Stamping on non-porous surface like acetate, StazOn is the best ink to use.

Merry & Bright Shaker Card

On White heavy weight cardstock, I stamped the Christmas light strings with Versamark ink pad with MISTI stamping tool, added some Ranger Gold embossing powder, and heat it up with my Craft Heater. I did it twice to get the thick embossed image. It is easy to do double-stamping with MISTI tool 🙂 After I did the embossing, I colored them with Specteum Noir Blendable pencil colors. I picked the red and green that match with the patterned paper colors. Then I die cut the string lights with the matching ODBD Custom Die – Christmas Light.

I added the stamped acetate on the card to cover the window from inside of the card with Liquid Glass Glue. Then I added some color mixed sequins on it, not too much, or it will be too tight. I cut out a piece of white cardstock that slightly bigger than the shaker window, and then I added it on card to cover the window. I used 0.5″ Scor-pal tape for this. And the shaker card is done 🙂

They are more inspirations from the ODBD Design Team on the ODBD Blog. And check out the great bundle deals on the ODBD store for you to save money of Holiday crafting supplies!
